Event 3 – Immediate Implant Restoration

On January 15th, 2021 a seminar on immediate implant restoration was held by the Study Club of the Palm Beaches at Ruth’s Chris restaurant in City Place, West Palm Beach. The speaker for the morning was Dr. Rafael Cordero, a local periodontist and implantologist. He provided background information, and evidence- based case reports demonstrating, pros, cons and indications for this novel approach. The technique provides the opportunity for patients to have a tooth extracted, an implant placed in its place, and a temporary crown placed on the implant, all in the same day, in an easy, painless and consistent way. The presentation was capped with a hands-on laboratory instructed via the web by Dr. Stephen Chu, world renowned dentist/ prosthodontist from NYU. All attendees, members of the study club, were provided with materials and models to practice immediate implant tooth replacement and become familiar with the concept. We want to thank Biohorizons implant company for providing us with the means for the hands- on laboratory and lecture from Dr. Chu. The program was conducted using proper methods of disinfecting, social- distancing, and physical barriers. All attendees, sponsor and lecturer, were provided masks and plexiglass/ plastic shields for their personal protection and comfort. More events have been planned with the Study Club of the Palm Beaches through the spring of this year.
